Who We Are

Jim Kauffman - President

With a lengthy career working both as a consultant and as an operating company executive, Jim Kauffman brings a wealth of senior knowledge, insight and "hands-on" experience to his for-profit and nonprofit clients. He is particularly adept at helping nonprofits apply for-profit business disciplines to their operations and initiatives, and is comfortable operating in both large organizations and in smaller, resource-limited environments.

For the past 28 years, Jim has led The Everest Group consulting practice, serving well over 100 nonprofit and for-profit clients, large and small, across an array of segments. Although diverse, these clients have in common the need to find a trusted partner to help them identify new ways to overcome obstacles to achieving their growth goals and more successfully fulfill their mission.

Prior to co-founding The Everest Group, Jim led marketing and multi-functional business teams of up to 90 people at Procter & Gamble, Gillette, Quaker Oats (as VP) and Rand McNally (as VP and Division General Manager). He holds a M.B.A. in Marketing from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, and a B.A. in Economics from Beloit College.

Jim has been actively involved in the non-profit sector throughout his career. Besides non-profit consulting clients in the Human Services, Health Care, Education and Association areas, he has served on a variety of boards, including the Evanston Community Foundation, the Mental Health Association and the Youth Job Center where he has recently served as Board President. Other organizations where he has served as a volunteer include The Taproot Foundation, the National Runaway Switchboard, the Looking Glass Runaway Center, the Evanston Hospital Crisis Line, Hilda's Place Homeless Shelter and the Albany Care Group Home for the Mentally Ill.
